Altitude Zone altitude tent set up on a double bed

Hypoxia with a sleeping tent

Sleep at altitude at home with an altitude tent

An altitude tent over your own bed, at the altitude you choose up to 3,000 m simulated. While you sleep, your body adapts: more haematocrit, more VO₂max and better recovery.

How your night at altitude works

Choose the altitude you want to sleep at and switch on the generator. You'll see how it produces air with less oxygen, how it builds up and how it reaches the tent until it hits the chosen altitude.

Improvement profile

What each type of hypoxia boosts

The three forms of hypoxia work on the same body, but each one puts the focus somewhere different. We only show the improvements backed by science for each type. Choose the type of hypoxia and tap each improvement to see the study and the body system involved.

Sleeping at altitude is a very powerful stimulus: we adjust the protocol and your training loads so you don't build up fatigue in the central nervous system.

Approximate scale based on studies with athletes and on our experience; the figures for each improvement come from the cited study. Response varies from person to person. Anatomical systems: Z-Anatomy and BodyParts3D (CC BY-SA 4.0).

FAQ

What we're asked most

How many hours do I need to sleep in the tent?+

Ideally 8 to 9 hours a night, every night of the block. The more time you spend at altitude, the bigger the stimulus.

What altitude will I sleep at?+

We don't work with a fixed altitude but with a target saturation: we start at 93 % and, if you feel good, drop to 92 % after two weeks. For most people that's around 2,000 to 2,500 metres.

Can I sleep with my partner?+

Yes. Sizes XS (140 cm), S (160 cm), M (185 cm) and XL (212 cm) cover double beds. Bear in mind that inside the tent you both sleep at the same altitude.

Do I need to change anything in my bedroom?+

No. The tent sets up over your mattress and the generator sits on the floor next to the bed, plugged into a normal socket.

When do I stop using it before a competition?+

You stop sleeping in the tent 8 days before the competition, and we drop intermittent hypoxia 3 days before. That way you arrive adapted and rested.

I already have the IHHT Pack. Can I add the tent?+

Yes. You use the same generator for your mask sessions and for sleeping. Write to us and we'll tell you what you need to add.

Tent or a whole room?+

The tent is the simplest and most affordable way to sleep at altitude. If you'd rather not have a tent or want a room for several athletes, take a look at our altitude rooms.
